Hi…
Honestly? I feel blanked out.
I definitely don’t have any ‘interesting’ topic to write about this period maybe the next chapter will come with more gist.
Right now, I’ve been swamped at the office; knee-deep in preparations for the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) Leadership Training happening this Friday, 28th June and Saturday, 29th June, where I’m serving as the Project Assistant.
It’s been go-go-go:
- Hall
- Facilitators
- Food
- Programme Timetable
- Souvenirs
With extras!
Coordinating an event is no small feat. It’s mentally demanding and physically exhausting. My feet have been on the move while my brain has been ticking slowly but surely checking off every item on my long to-do list.
And even though this will be my 4th event project, I still get the jinkies. 😬 It always feels like I’m doing it for the first time.
My journey into project management wasn’t planned…it found me.
It all began when I was asked to coordinate our students’ first alumni dinner party in 2022. That was followed by a series of business executive classes in 2023 and early 2024, and now… this big NSE Port Harcourt Branch training project.
At first, I had no formal training. But I had something just as powerful: Guidance. My superiors introduced me to the three major stages of event planning:
1. Pre-event
2. Event
3. Post-event
And ever since then, I’ve been using that framework to plan and coordinate with more structure and confidence.
So while I may not have a “hot topic” this week, I do have real life, real work, and real exhaustion.
Once this phase is over, we’ll go back to our usual gists and corporate “gossips.” 🤭
Until I write again.
Still winging it,
Wing Woman
